20 Weeks

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

How far along? 20 weeks!

Total weight gain/loss? Down 2 from last week, down 4 over all. When should I worry?

Maternity clothes? Jeans I'm in full time. I have some shirts I can still wear though.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Though, I don't always have to get up.

Best moment this week? There were so many moments to chose from! Getting in the changing table, painting the nursery, our hospital tour last night... But nothing compares to knowing that we have a healthy little BOY on his way!

Movement? Not yet. We found out at our anatomy ultrasound on Thursday that my placenta is in front of the baby, acting like a barrier for his kicks so it may be a while still before I feel anything. Though hello restless legs! Wow, my legs don't want to stay still anymore, especially at night.

Food cravings? I was back to Fritos and Easy Cheese! Dang it!

Gender? It's a BOY!

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? Being on the downhill side!

Weekly Wisdom: Be prepared to change your mind about where you want furniture to go in the nursery! I still have no idea!

Milestones: Hitting the halfway point, and we saw our boy again!

Emotions: Nothing really this week, no longer in a funk thank goodness!

Such decisions!

So, the stroller above is what we have registered for, the City Mini by Baby Jogger.

The car seat above is what is currently on our registry. All Graco car seats fit on the City Mini strollers, thus the reason we went with Graco.

However, I found this Graco one on the Babies R Us website for online orders only. I mean, it's Mickey Mouse! It's the same car seat, only in Mickey Mouse. Do I change it for Mickey or leave it at blue?

Project Nursery!

As promised, here's our little boy. I just adore the first picture of him, sucking on his little fingers. So cute!

Saturday we started the nursery. We painted the walls a tan color, though we saw once we added our blue stripes that the tan has an orange undertone in it. But, we weren't going to repaint it! So, below you can see the blue double stripes to try get the nursery look from the Disney movie Peter Pan. The view below is right when you walk in the room. We believe the best place for the room arrangement is to have the crib on that wall on the right, even though it's right there at the hallway. The rocking chair that my MIL used with Jason is the one item that FIL says must stay in the family, so it's where Jason is, the closet is in front of him on the wall. Our thought is that the changing table/dresser combo (which we just heard came in today) will be centered on the window and off to the right of the window will be the diaper genie. (Side note - I may also spell out Hunter down vertically along the right side of the window due to Jason forgetting to add in the second stripe of blue there).

Here you can see the crib nestled against the corner.

Now, for the rest. We think the steps involved to actually trace and then paint a shadow of Peter Pan on the window will be too difficult and that it would just look like a grey blob. So, we've gone this route:

This is actually a wallpaper decal, not vinyl, that we can stick on. It's about 4 feet in length. So, instead of his shadow being stuck in the room, he'll be in there, ready to take Hunter to the place where time stands still. We also want to put up the words "Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning" above the window, as you're leaving the nursery, ready to start the journey to Neverland. This one below is not the exact one we ordered, I am currently unable to locate it, Jason found it. But, it's the basic idea. Just no Peter with it.

And, lastly, we may add a Tinkerbell somewhere too, even though Hunter is a boy, so she can give the Pixie Dust needed to fly. Well, that's the plan for now!

It's been decided!

After a total of asking about 30-35 people their guesses on the gender, we found out on Thursday that roughly 25-30 of them were wrong! We have little Hunter Ray joining us in August!

I'll be posting pictures up soon, I just have to edit them to remove my full name from the top of them.

Hunter kept playing hide and seek with the technician and anything she wanted to look at. He was moving all over the place. After we looked at the legs and moved to the feet, she wanted to get a footprint picture for us. She had the hardest time because he kept tapping his feet! That in turn made me laugh (and apparently the only thing that moves when I laugh is my belly). Both Jason and I thought, that's our kid! He'll be in band yet! We find out that our baby is equipped with "outdoor plumbing" and I was all right. My initial reaction though was "I can't put pixie dust on the walls". So, it was sort of a disappointment, I will say, but we think about the positives. No periods, no wedding to pay for, no makeup, no prom dress shopping. Plus, looking around yesterday as Jason would send me boy clothes and onesies to work, boy clothes just look so much cuter to me! Girl clothes can be on the kid side, where as with a boy, they can be dressed like a little man, and when they are that little, it's adorable!

So, I'm excited now. I still have no idea what to do with a boy, but that will change here eventually! It will have to! Project nursery starts today! We should have tan walls painted by the afternoon and then we're off to look at Baby Shower Invitations (that's the one thing my sister wants me to do).

19 Weeks!

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

How far along? 19 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? Up 1 from last week, down 2 over all.

Maternity clothes? Jeans I'm in full time. I have some shirts I can still wear though.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Though, I don't always have to get up.

Best moment this week? Disneyland of course!

Movement? Not yet. Though hello restless legs! Wow, my legs don't want to stay still anymore, especially at night.

Food cravings? Still Little Debbie, though it can be the brownies with nuts in addition to the Easter Cakes.

Gender? We still think boy because we want a girl. But, including this poll, it seems like the ratio is about 10-1 for those who pick girl over boy.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? The big ultrasound tomorrow!

Weekly Wisdom: Just because Disneyland may be the happiest place on earth to you, don't expect to feel the baby move for the first time as you enter Main Street. Sadly, I don't think the baby realized it was it's first trip to Disneyland. Haha!

Milestones: None this week.

Emotions: I was in some sort of funk yesterday. I'll get in one normally every so often, but this one was bad, probably because of the added hormones.

Need some input

Ok, so I'm going to Disneyland on Saturday. Do I want to add Peter Pan pictures on the walls of the nursery when it is inspired by the nursery in Peter Pan or do I just paint it and leave it at that? I don't know if I need to shop for Peter Pan artwork or not!

What do you think?

18 Weeks!

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

How far along? 18 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? Down 1 from last week, down 3 over all.

Maternity clothes? Jeans I'm in full time. I have some shirts I can still wear though.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Though, I don't always have to get up.

Best moment this week? Vanessa finding out what she's having.

Movement? Not yet. Though hello restless legs! Wow, my legs don't want to stay still anymore, especially at night.

Food cravings? Still Little Debbie, though it can be the brownies with nuts in addition to the Easter Cakes.

Gender? It will be a boy. We both really want a girl so we're getting a boy. Though, all but 1 person (who has not taken this poll) say girl, and of course, the gender test from Target says girl too. I don't want to get my hopes up though. The other 2 that first said boy, have now changed to girl.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? Disneyland on Saturday and the big ultrasound a week from tomorrow!

Weekly Wisdom: None this week. Have I even had wisdom?

Milestones: With the weather warming up, I can't wear my rings anymore. Today was the first day I had to go without them. That's sad.

Emotions: I cried while watching 16 and Pregnant. But, the baby's daddy said that he wished he could rewrite the book on that stretched mark mistake. How could I not?

Pictures!

Alright... it's about time I put these up, here we go!

This was week 5, right after we found out. That's pretty much fat/bloat in that picture.

Last week, 16 weeks - for the record, I could finally say that I saw more baby bump than belly fat at 15 weeks.

This was tonight, I was kinda laughing. 17 weeks

17 Weeks

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

How far along? 17 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? Up 1 from last week, down 2 over all. I guess The weight gain is officially on. I would like to be even come 20 weeks, but we'll see how it works, especially after my craving tonight.

Maternity clothes? Jeans I'm in full time. I have some shirts I can still wear though.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Though, I don't always have to get up.

Best moment this week? Hearing the heartbeat again at the appointment.

Movement? Not yet.

Food cravings? We were wandering Target tonight and all the Easter stuff is out. That reminded me of the Little Debbie Easter Cakes, the white cakes (Zebra cakes) with the sprinkles on top. Zebra cakes won't do the job as they have stripes in icing, not sprinkles on top. Luckily, they had some. Why is it always sweets??

Gender? It will be a boy. We both really want a girl so we're getting a boy. Though, all but 3 people (who have not taken this poll) say girl, and of course, the gender test from Target says girl too. I don't want to get my hopes up though.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? Vanessa finding out what she's having tomorrow!

Weekly Wisdom: None this week. Have I even had wisdom?

Milestones: Nothing new this week.

Emotions: Well, yesterday at Jason's concert, for the first time, he thanked me during the same part when he thanked the administration and the parents. He thought I'd roll my eyes, but instead, I got teary eyed during the whole next tune.

Poll time!

I have put up the gender poll. Our big ultrasound appointment is March 25th at 3:30. So, to break everything down so that you can make the best, most educated guess possible...

We want a girl
Cravings have consisted of mostly junk food and sweets (non chocolate)
All but 1 old wives tale test has given the result of boy
All but 2 people that don't have a preference for one or the other (not family) says girl
Only 1 dream since being pregnant has not been about sex. It was me telling my sister she was going to have a niece
And lastly, took the $30 gender prediction test today (thanks to my sister) and it went unchanged, which says indicates a girl

So, there you go. Guess away! I'll close it at 6 on the 24th.

Something to plan

So, I honestly do not think I have a friend that would volunteer to throw the baby shower. That means, my sister will be "throwing" it for me. I say "throwing" it because she will actually host it and lead everything, but she is still in school and will need me to help put things together that I either want to do or want to see. So, I called the place that we used for our wedding invitations to set up a design session, and they closed at the end of February. That makes me very sad. So, having planned a wedding for outside the state, I feel like I'm starting from scratch on everything! Cake, invitations, and whatever else comes with it.

Recommendations please? :)

16 Weeks!

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

How far along? 16 weeks and 1 day

Total weight gain/loss? Up 2 from last week, down 3 over all.

Maternity clothes? Jeans I'm in full time. I have some shirts I can still wear though.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Last night I woke up at 3 and couldn't fall back asleep till 5. Then, Jason's alarm went off at 5:30! Ugh.

Best moment this week? Finalizing the nursery!

Movement? Not yet.

Food cravings? I actually wanted Jamba Juice this week! Something healthier than Smarties!

Gender? It will be a boy. We both really want a girl so we're getting a boy.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? My appointment on Monday.

Weekly Wisdom: None this week.

Milestones: Finalizing the nursery!

Emotions: None this week either. Pretty boring.
