My Heart since Jenni tagged me

My Heart: Here is what you need to do:

The rules: "With as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in: a picture, a poem, a song (or piece of music), a phrase (or quote), an item of clothing, a place, and (just for fun) a Disney princess. If you want to join in, tag six more blogs!

My sister means the world to me. We may be 9 years apart and live in two different states, but I do not know what I'd do without her. Even on my wedding day when she refused to get out of bed to have breakfast with her sister with her hair in those god awful extensions. We have only grown closer over the years.

I'm going to have to get back on the poem...

Song: Send in the Clowns

This is the corps song to the drum and bugle corps I marched for two years 10 years ago.

Isn't it rich? Are we a pair? Me here at last on the ground, you in midair. Where are the clowns, send in the clowns.

It's not the happiest of songs, but to me it says to look for happier moments when things may be bad. Those 2 years in that activity were some of the best years and I continue to be very passionate about each season that comes.

Quote: The only person that can tell you you can't is you, and you don't have to listen.

I love this quote. It really helped me get through my training for my triathlon. I knew people would expect me to not follow through with the race. When I read this quote, I knew that what people would expect didn't matter, that I'd like to see them try to do a triathlon.

Clothes:

I love jeans. I could live in jeans all day, every day. I am more comfortable in jeans and feel more like myself in jeans than anything else, including flip flops.

Place:

Where else but Paris? I fell in love with this city. I've been to a lot of places across the country and across the world and many I would go back to (it helps that Jason hasn't been to many places before, so I have an excuse) but I would get on a plane right now and fly back to Paris if I could. I absolutely loved it. I loved my experiences there, the people, how my relationship grew with Jason while I was there... Jason agrees with me though. He would go back today if he could. It was just fantastic.

Disney Princess:

Belle. I think it has to be Belle. For a long time, Beauty and the Beast was my favorite Disney movie (it has since been replaced with Peter Pan). I remember watching the Academy Awards when it was nominated for Best Picture wishing and hoping that it would win over that Lamb movie. I would always sing the Aladdin soundtrack, but Beauty and the Beast held a place in my heart right next to Donald Duck. There was just something about Belle that drew me to her and to that movie. In fact, if the wedding dresses based on Disney Princesses were out by the time I got my dress, it would have been themed after her.

For fun...

I'm going to see if I can remember all of those that I know that are pregnant or just had a baby in the last 4 months. I was at Babies R Us tonight looking at 3 different baby registries. Wow.

Here we go!

Lindsey had baby Katie Christian April 3

Sally had baby Tyler Conley on April 20th

Jessica had baby Ilsa (pronounced eye-la) Dawn on July 7th

Melissa had baby Madison Bella on July 12th

Karlena is due in August and is currently in the hospital on watch due to her blood pressure
Rita is due in August
Jaime is due in October
Andi is due October 22
Leslie is due October 31
Autumn is due November 10
Mya is due in November
Lisa is due January 9
Breanne is due January 19

I'm pretty sure I'm missing 2, but I can't think of who that is at the moment... 4 recent births and at least 9 are expecting and I know of others that are currently trying. I guess that is what happens in a recession, right?

**Edit** I guess I should add Patty to this list! Congrats Patty!

And I also forgot to mention that I there are 2 ladies at work that had a baby. One in June and one July 5. **End Edit**

Jason is 30!

July 3 was Jason's 30th birthday. We spent the weekend of the 4th in Vegas. We had a decent time. We went with some of his best friends which actually meant this was my first time in Vegas with people that were not my family. Friday night we had dinner at Yolos Mexican Grill in Planet Hollywood. It was very good food. Afterwards, the whole group knew that Jason's one thing he wanted to do while in Vegas for his birthday was see the Bellagio fountain show. So, what do we do? We board a bus to Fremont Street.  We spent some time exploring it and the Fremont Street experience then we headed back. As Jason and I were tired from not having slept well in our Flagstaff/no AC room the night before, we went to bed and everyone else stayed out and did Vegas. Saturday, the 4th we used it as a celebration for another friend who was turning 30 on the 5th. Jason and I wandered around the Venetian and saw a wedding on a gondola and went to go see the Palazo. I loved the umbrellas they have in the transition from the Venetian to the Palazo. So pretty. With our baby fever, we were both thinking that it would be a cute idea for a nursery, if only we had a bigger room for it. One umbrella and we'd be maxed out! We made sure to hit up Serendipity 3 for the Frozen Hot Chocolate which was delicious! That night it was Musashi Japanese Steakhouse for dinner (teppan yakki). Our chef was fantastic! Very entertaining and very funny. And, the food was just wonderful. We were all pleasantly surprised. But, everyone was pleasantly surprised with the bill once they realized how many Saki Bombers they had (Jason and I thought about that ahead of time and had water to drink - we had beverages waiting in the hotel room). Afterwards, we went to see Holly Madison in Peepshow. It was cute and I don't think I can ever look at classic nursery rhymes the same way. Sadly, Sunday came and it was back to Phoenix.

I caved

I knew I had no reason to think otherwise, what were the chances that on our first month of (not really)TTC that it would happen, not to mention that I have PCOS. But, after having normal periods like clockwork since November, I am 3 days late. I started feeling things and telling myself that I was extremely tired all of a sudden and such. I knew that it was all psychological and that I was not pregnant. Yet, today on the way home I went and spent money on a test to pee on a stick.

I'm still right. Where are you AF? I'm ready to get back to day 1!

Baby Fever

Jason and I both have baby fever.  Bad.

While Jason is home for the summer he has been preparing our 3rd bedroom - moving the office stuff that was in there to the guest bedroom. Now, there's just a couple of things in the 3rd bedroom that need to be put somewhere or stored somewhere and we will have a vacant room. Jason's nesting and we're not even pregnant! He says its because he has the time right now to do this whereas if we become pregnant somewhat soon, it would be during the school year for him with band commitments (concerts, competitions, auditions, festivals, conferences) and he might not have the time or energy to do it.

We have first names picked out for both a boy and a girl. We would like to have a middle name for each decided on before I become pregnant as well. I can be extremely moody and I have a very short temper naturally, add in a mix of hormones and mood swings from pregnancy, and that is going to be one scary Katie Preggo Monster. So, to avoid that, we're deciding now - or trying to. That's not saying if we discover something we like more than our current choices that we won't change, but that would have to be an outstanding name. We've actually had the girl's name decided on since before we got married.

And, we would love to do a Peter Pan themed nursery. We figure we could play up the lost boys and pirates for a boy or the mermaids and fairies for a girl. We figure we'd have to really show that off in the wall and how its painted as Disney does not make Peter Pan nursery bedding. There are some Tinkerbell stuff, but we want to avoid a lot of Tinkerbell stuff (if a girl) as she is such a spoiled brat in the movie and we wouldn't want to have that around. We would want something showing that because she is such a big character and because she is one of the major icons for Disney now, but might use something else to show her. Anyway, we'd have to see if we can even get a Peter Pan idea to work because of the bedding issue - maybe some solid colors for bedding or something. We'll see. Luckily, we still have a ways to worry about that.

I don't like to say that we're trying. I always wanted my baby to just happen, but I think with PCOS, I may not be able to just let it happen. I'm not charting in the sense of taking my temperature every day or checking fluid and such but I am keeping track of my cycle, I figure after 6 months or maybe at my next annual exam, I may look at taking the next step (if that means taking temperatures or seeking medical help). I would also love to not know that I'm pregnant for as long as possible as that would mean that much less time to be pregnant but now being in full on baby is ok/welcomed mode, that's hard because I'll be analyzing every little thing that may happen. Who knows? Maybe as early as March we may be having one!

Missing the King

I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson's when I was growing up. For me, being the oldest and having my only sibling being 9 years younger, I was in the Disney phase for a LONG time. Ok, I'm still in the Disney phase.

But, when I hit about 10 or 11 years old, I became a fan of Michael's. I had a poster of him that I never took out of the wrapping, had Thriller, Bad and Dangerous and would alternate those with my Disney soundtracks. I would be singing his tunes and dancing and such. I remember my next door neighbor when I lived in Atlanta had the Moonwalker video game and I'd be over at his house playing it all the time. Sadly, sometime after Dangerous came out, it became "uncool" to like him and his music.  I became embarrassed that I was a fan of his. I tried to tell myself I wasn't a fan and didn't like his music, that I didn't love his Man in the Mirror song. Leave it to being a middle schooler and getting into peer pressure.

My sister called me on Friday (we had talked about his death on Thursday). She asked me how I was doing. My mom told her that I was a big fan. While I did not cry when I heard the news, it still is a very sad thing. I practically had to be pulled away from the tv this weekend as I kept watching the same videos over and over again. His death really has renewed my love for his music. Aside from his personal life, his music and his artistry was just incredible.

Michael Jackson will be missed.

Sophomore slump

Ugh. I haven't been to the gym or worked out since Sunday when my sister was here. I'm just not motivated to do this right now, to do my sister's race. I know she really wants me there and I am going to do my best to be ready to participate with her in her first triathlon but its hard. I was all decided that I was doing my race then the Disneyland 5k over Labor Day weekend so it doesn't really feel like its my race, that I want to do this race, that this race is for me. I hope I get out of this slump, I do, that way I can to this with her as it would mean a lot to her.
