We have a plan!

I'm so relieved that it sounds like we have our plan for the nursery! Not the bedding of course, but one step at a time.

So, we know that I wanted to do Peter Pan. I was clueless how to go about it though. We thought about doing the squares on the wall and putting the Peter Pan pictures we have in random squares, but then it would be a "square theme with Peter Pan pictures", but it wouldn't be a Peter Pan room.

A while ago, I came across this website that provided instructions on how they took a picture of London and used that for the basis of a "window" that they painted on the wall, to be like the nursery that Wendy, John, and Michael stayed in.

Then, thanks to Lisa through Kim, they showed me this website and by searching that site, I came across this picture:

It's Peter Pan's shadow, like in the movie when his shadow gets separated from him while listening to Wendy's stories. So, tie that with the nursery from the movie:

And, there's the game plan. We won't do 3 different colors for the stripes, only 2, and depending on girl or boy, we'll change it to either pinks/purples, or blues. Then it will look like the nursery from the movie. We'll make a transparency of Peter Pan's shadow and Jason will bring home an overhead projector from school to we can trace it on the wall then paint it (it just won't be sheer like in the above picture). And, lastly, we'll get a picture of London and make it seem like it's the window looking out over the city of London. And, if it's a girl, we have to add pixie dust at the top, it's a must.

I love it! From there, we'll either do neutral colors and themes for the bedding, or solid colors. Unless it's a boy, we can do the pirate bedding they have now.

15 Weeks

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

How far along? 15 weeks and 1 day

Total weight gain/loss? Down 1 from last week, back down 5 over all.

Maternity clothes? So, I don't need to be in them, but I go between wearing maternity and not.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep? Still pretty good. I've woken up almost every night once at one time this past week. Sometimes I actually have to get up to make the trip to the bathroom, others I can just get back to sleep. I'm not as tired as I was a few weeks ago most days, unless I have one of these killer headaches.

Best moment this week? Nothing really stands out to me.

Movement? Not yet.

Food cravings? Fritos and Easy Cheese were all the rage for me over the weekend, and on Monday while I was home sick. Yesterday, I wanted nothing but a cheese quesadilla from the roach coach that used to stop at work. We went to Filibertos (another new restaurant for me) to see if that would do the trick. So, far, I haven't wanted it since. But, I can't seem to get enough Smartees.

Gender? It will be a boy. We both really want a girl so we're getting a boy. More and more people though are guessing girl. In fact, only 1 person has submitted a guess of boy. We've started doing those old wives tales for determining gender (the needle and string one and such) and everything comes out boy, yet everyone but 1 person still guesses girl.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? My mom and my sister coming to visit next week.

Weekly Wisdom: None this week.

Milestones: None that I can think of.

Emotions: None this week either. Pretty boring.

Movies!

Ok, So I've been slacking on the 101 updates. But, really, all I've been doing is watching movies. I'm really wanting to make sure I get this movie night once a week complete. So, here we go!

9. Have a movie night once a week for 6 months.

Movie 17: Alice in Wonderland 2/6/2010 I think to prepare for the opening of the new Tim Burton/Johnny Depp take on Alice in Wonderland, I decided to watch the Disney cartoon. What a trip that movie is! Wow! I've had it in my collection for quite some time but it's not one that I pull out too often. That is one crazy movie.

Movie 18: A Chorus Line 2/11/2010 Yes, I had the urge to pull out the 80s classic, A Chorus Line. My family adores A Chorus Line, not always the movie, but the actual broadway show. The songs, the story of "I hope I make it".

Movie 19: Win a Date with Tad Hamilton 2/20/2010 Ok, this one was on TBS as I was flipping the channels. I had seen it once before, which was really enough, but there was nothing else on, and I didn't feel like getting up and putting in my own movie. I did stop and think twice about Kate Bosworth's character's name though, Rosalee. It's actually kinda pretty.

Now, with the OIympics having been on, I have the urge to watch Miracle, since it has been 30 years since the Miracle on Ice and also Love Actually. There are a few songs that were sung or played during the opening ceremonies that are I know from Love Actually. So, those may be the next movie nights.

14 Weeks

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

How far along? 14 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? Down 1 from last week, still down 4 over all.

I'm not as tired as I was a few weeks ago most days, yesterday I was just so tired though.

Best moment this week? Narrowing down our stroller choices (we're leaning towards the City Mini).

Movement? Not yet, though I did feel something that I'm not sure what it was for like 3 seconds Saturday afternoon.

Food cravings? Smartees. I saw someone that had a package of them at their desk last week, and I finally was able to eat some today.

Gender? It will be a boy. We both really want a girl so we're getting a boy. More and more people though are guessing girl. In fact, only 1 person has submitted a guess of boy. However, Jason is starting to second guess our first choice name for a boy of Hayden Ray. Not because of Ray, but because of how many Aiden type names there are out there. While there are not as many Haydens, I am seeing more and more Haydens either from friends in college who named their kids that or other means. He wants to lean towards Hunter Steven, but part of the thing that was making a boy ok was knowing that it would have my Dad's first name as it's middle name. That makes me sad.

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Pants will belt loops.

What I'm looking forward to? My friend Libby finding out if she's having a boy or a girl this Friday!

Weekly Wisdom: None this week.

Milestones: Knowing that no matter what website I go to, or what email I get, I'm officially out of the first trimester!

Emotions: First real emotional swing was yesterday. I was driving home from work yesterday, as soon as I got on the freeway, I was pissed for nearly no reason. By the time I'm 5 minutes from home (about 20 minutes later) I'm ready to ball. I walk in, say it was a bad day to Jason and head up stairs to cry and take a nap. Wow.

Madame Zaritska Birth Prediction

So, I went on this site that I saw from the August 2010 moms board on the bump:

http://pregnancyandbaby.sheknows.com/pregnancy/Pregnancy--Just-for-Fun-Madame-Zaritska/index.htm

You answer some meaningless questions and it "predicts" how your labor/birth experience/baby and such will be. Here is what I got:

The day you deliver, outside will be bright. Your baby will arrive in the middle of the night. After a labor lasting approximately 19 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 8 ounces, and will be 22 inches long. This child will have dark blue eyes and curly auburn hair.

Holy cow! 10 pounds 8 ounces!! I hope that's not going to happen. But, Jason was 9 pounds 11 ounces, so who knows.

Nursery design

Ok. So, we had been reading how it can be a good idea to start early on the nursery to space out costs. So, this weekend, we went to Buy Buy Baby to look at cribs. We had looked at Babies R Us after the appointment last week, so we were checking out another store. Well, we fell in love with this:

It's Sophia by Sorrelle. And, we loved the price. So, we went ahead and ordered it. We were fine with that. We wanted to start looking so we could space out the costs. So, we fell in love with it, sure, Babies R Us has it online, but they didn't have it at the store to look at. So, we ordered it while we were there. They had the crib in stock, however, the changing table/dresser combo was not. So, we left waiting to see if one could be sent in from another store as we would just pick both up at the same time.

Well, come to find out, the dresser/changing table combo thing is backordered and will eventually be sent in from Brazil. That could take 18-20 weeks! Good thing we ordered it now! That will make me 30 weeks if it takes 18 weeks. So, we'll pick up the crib this weekend and off we go.

I have 3 days off in March during Jason's spring break. My big ultrasound is scheduled right before then (I moved it from March 31 to March 25). So, the plan is to find out what it is, and start decorating the nursery accordingly. We still want to do Peter Pan. We love the idea. Fairies and mermaids for a girl, lost boys and pirates for a boy, and children never wanting to grow up. It seems like it might be an impossible challenge. However, I did come across this:

It's Winnie the Pooh, but it gave us the idea to do big color squares incorporating Peter Pan colors (blue for water and sky, green for the land, yellow for pixie dust...) and how the picture above has letters or flowers and such in some of the squares, maybe we could put Peter Pan artwork in squares. We already have 2 pieces from when we first talked about doing Peter Pan (years ago). Then, we could do something simple for the actual nursery bedding. Do you think that would work or would that just be a big mess?

Appointment recap

So, it's long over due and I apologize.

So, last Tuesday was my birthday and my 12 week appointment (even though I was 11 weeks and 6 days). I had a really bad migraine the night before - seems like the morning sickness has left and in it's place, I get really bad headaches - but luckily I woke up with no pain. I went about the day at work focused on work and everyone wishing me a happy birthday (my cube was decorated when I got in) and was not in a "hurry up and get here! i want to get to my appointment!" which I guess is good. I was never really focused on the appointment so that's good. Not to say that I wasn't excited for it, I was just trying to not focus on it.

So, we go in (Jason came with me) and quickly go over my blood work (everything is fine, and I finally found out my blood type - I had never known what I was), talk about my new found headaches and then get to the exam. Making sure that everything feels alright and such. Then, they pull out the ultrasound machine again.

My friend Vanessa's little one was doing headstands and moving the whole time she had her ultrasound. I see my parasite (yeah, still don't have another name yet) and can tell it is much, much bigger than the last time. However, it wasn't moving, perfectly still. So, I start looking for the heartbeat, which was harder to find this time. But, I saw it, and it was fine and all was right with the world. We asked about how the baby wasn't moving and the nurse said, "Oh don't worry, I'll get it to move" and she starts pressing on my stomach more and eventually it starts twitching and moving it's arms and turning a little bit. So exciting! I had also been reading on the bump's August 2010 momma's board about how people are finding out how many beats per minute their little one's heartbeat is and if that is good or not. We asked about that, and she didn't say anything, put she put away the ultrasound machine and went to get a doppler. She wasn't sure if we would hear it, and just when it looked like we wouldn't, we did. Jason was able to record it on his phone so we can play it back and listen to it. So cool!
