Mini vacation

So, the hubs and I are staying this week at a local resort for a mini vacation/get away. We're still in town, I'll still be going to work, but it's relaxing not coming home if I don't want and there's something about sleeping somewhere else. We checked in Saturday, then went straight to the Suns final game of the season, though we didn't know that to begin with. Even though we lost, we left knowing that it was a terrific season and that the team played great and passed so many expectations.

I spent a good portion of yesterday hanging out in a pool before going to spend some time with my family and enjoy a BBQ. Today will be more pool time (hello lazy river) and more dinner with my family. Currently though, we're hanging out at our house to spend some time with our cats. Jason will be here most of the week during the day while I'm off at work doing month end close and dealing with an interview candidate that is now starting to creep me out to the point of being like a stalker (I might get into that later, we'll see). Then, at night, I may do dinner with my dad (he's staying in town this whole week as my shower is on Saturday) while Jason is off at his rookie member band camp. Friday I'm taking a half day to enjoy the day with my sister and, once again, more lazy river time, prior to the shower the next day. It's crazy to think that it's the week of my shower. It felt like it would never get here and now, here it is.

Now, off to watch the special on the 2010 HGTV Green House in New England. The outside of it is gorgeous!

12 Weeks to go!

How far along? 28 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain/loss? Up 1 from last week (the swelling is back in my feet), up 6 overall.

Maternity clothes? Everything full time now.

Stretch marks? Nope, though I am beginning to wonder if I'm seeing one... Not sure though.

Sleep? I wake up about once a night now. Though not because of having to get up to use the restroom, I wake up because I'm burning up! Then, because I'm awake, I have to use the restroom.

Best moment this week? Watching two sweet victories for the Suns! Also hearing that my boy is doing great and measuring a week and a half ahead! And, hearing that I passed my glucose test! Sure, their top passing number was 130 and I had a 129, but I passed!

Movement? He has a cycle now... it seems like it's an every 3 hours sort of thing.

Food cravings? Surprisingly nothing at the moment.

Gender? It's a BOY!

Labor signs? Nope. But I still am getting those ever so much fun Braxton Hicks contractions.

What I miss? Sweet Tea. I really want some. Pants with zippers, pants with belt loops, the cooler weather. A warm pool to go swimming in.

What I'm looking forward to? This weekend! Our anniversary is today, but Jason is at work thanks to high school graduation tonight. So, family comes to town this weekend to finalize shower stuff, I'll be at Suns vs Lakers game 6 on Saturday, and we'll be checking into a local resort where I hope to be floating on a lazy river Sunday and Monday.

Weekly Wisdom: Pregnancy dreams are crazy, and can be very scary. I've had 2 scary ones recently. One that I won't get into just yet as it involves a date in my pregnancy that I haven't hit yet. The other, I was getting the first candidate to interview from the security lobby and he turned out to be a pissed off passenger who as soon as I walked him through the security lobby, he goes postal and starts shooting everyone! My first interview was the following morning, and needless to say, I was on edge!

Milestones: Seeing movement from the outside!

Emotions: Excited and nervous all at once with how close it's all getting!

13 Weeks to go!

How far along? 27 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? Up 2 from last week (the swelling is back in my feet), up 5 overall.

Maternity clothes? Pretty much everything full time now.

And, last night, it took me like 45 minutes to fall back asleep and it wasn't a great sleep like the first part was.

Best moment this week? I'm not really sure...

Movement? He has a cycle now... it seems like it's an every 3 hours sort of thing.

Food cravings? Cinnamon rolls. I had my craving on Saturday and finally got them yesterday.

Gender? It's a BOY!

Labor signs? Nope. But I still am getting those ever so much fun Braxton Hicks contractions.

What I miss? Sweet Tea. I really want some. Pants with zippers, pants with belt loops, the cooler weather.

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out if I passed my glucose test and my baby shower in like 2 and a half weeks!

Weekly Wisdom: Eventually, as much as you try to avoid blaming something on the pregnancy, there becomes no other excuse.

Milestones: Hello third trimester!

Emotions: Nothing major with mood swings, though I was pretty irritable at work today thanks to my lack of good sleep and my new manager because thanks to pregnancy brain, I forgot to update her on something. Joy.

Peter Pan progress

Ok, so we did some more work on the nursery over the weekend. In fact, the Peter Pan part is done I'd say. Now, if there are any little touches to add and of course, things like the bedding, diaper genie and so forth will still be coming.

Here is a Peter Pan doll/stuffed animal I found at the Disney store. They had a Donald Duck in the same fashion, and I nearly bought it thanks to my love (some would say obsession) with Mr. Duck, but instead, I bought Peter. How often do you find a Peter Pan doll/stuffed animal?

As soon as you walk in the room, above the changing table, is this quote. I believe you can't do Peter Pan without this quote.

Above the crib is Peter. He was a wallpaper mural instead of a vinyl sticker. So, we glued him to plexi glass to hang him. This way, we can move him around with ease if we so choose. We also did this with the quote. The adjacent wall to Peter has our 2 pictures from Peter Pan.

Here you can start to see the furniture placement. And, the big question is, with this wall space still left, do I put up letters spelling our baby's name or do I put up a shelf for books and such instead?

Yes, that's Lupin laying on our changing table.

So, that's the room. Still needs a few touches, like adding a shelf or something... But, one more step closer!

How cute is this?

It's a hanging ship lamp from Peter Pan! I love it! Too bad we've already installed a ceiling fan (which will be much needed here in Phoenix) and this lamp is made in the UK. I know that there wouldn't be a problem with the outlets because it hangs and it's just a wiring thing, but I'm not sure if it would fully work anyway. Perhaps it's better that I don't find out!

Cutting things out

Ok, so both in preparation for the chance that Prop 100 does not pass next week and just places on where we can save money, we're looking at our budget, what we spend where, and where we can cut back.

Yesterday, it was our cell phones. It was needed. We have AT&T (we were on it before the iPhone was even announced) and have the iPhone. I had AT&T first and had a high minute plan as Jason was still on Verizon. He eventually moved over to AT&T but we never lowered the minutes. The only people that Jason talks to on a regular basis that are not on AT&T are his parents, I don't talk to anyone that is not on AT&T on a regular basis. Needless to say, we had a TON of Roll Over minutes every month. We had like 1000 expiring every month! So, we dropped our minute plan. We're keeping our texting plan and our data plan. But, by dropping our minute plan we're going to save about $30 a month. Great.

Now, we're looking at Cable TV. Jaye - you may be able to help me out here. We have a Cox bundle with internet, phone, and our basic cable HD TV and recorder. During the day before I get home, Jason does watch random stuff on TV like Food Network thanks to his love of cooking, and Holmes on Homes or Income Property on HGTV. He would lose those things. We're considering cutting the cable tv part out. But, not eliminating it entirely. We would move to an HD antenna to pick up the local network channels as we do watch a lot of network tv at night, and also pick up a TiVo to still record shows or movies that may come on. Then perhaps as we want to watch something on TV and we see nothing on, we go to our recorded shows and movies. This, would save us after is all and said and done, about $900 a year.

Doing this, we would still have to pull about $300 out of our savings to help pay for day care for Hunter IF Prop 100 does not pass. If Prop 100 does pass, we don't have to pull anything from our savings to cover day care. It would be a change, but I think it can be a very good change.

Thoughts or tips?
